About Midwinter

Postby Dpsonroids on Wed Feb 07, 2018 4:27 pm

You are probably already a little familiar of our Guild since we have been a prominent member of the WoW competitive raiding scene since 2006. Details below:

• Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday/Sunday | 9:00PM-1:00AM EST. These are the days we will definitely raid during progression but we may also go late or start early if that's what the guild wants to do. We'll also raid when the servers go up on the first Mythic Tuesday. Our schedule varies from tier to tier but if we're extending, there's always plenty of notice and it's only when the guild wants to play more and is having fun.
• No Alts required, but most of us have an alt we maintain for funsies -- Alt raids are organized outside of raid times for those interested. We do a Heroic split raid at the start of progression tiers for extra prog gear.
• No expectations of doing/researching any PTR. However, we do expect people to be knowledgeable of the fights and familiar with the strategies we post on our discord before zoning into the raid. Collaboration and suggestions are highly encouraged between raids.
• Officers will ML loot to best help progression. Loot is always simply viewed as a tool to help us get through progression content faster.

We aim to be one of the most efficient raiding guilds in the world -- able to clear all bleeding edge Raid content at a competitive pace. Due to our limited raiding schedule, it will be absolutely necessary to maintain a high standard for skill and discipline. The leadership would be doing a disservice to the rest of the team by not collecting/nurturing the best people to raid alongside us. We will not recruit for the bench and there will be no anchors on this team. Members will be given every opportunity to live up/improve to that standard and the leadership will ensure that nobody feels randomly screwed without plenty of time to make adjustments if deemed necessary. Ideally everyone thinks of the guild as a Professional sports team and puts the team's success before themselves. Even if raiding no longer works out, this is still your home and you're still a member of our community and World of Warcraft is not the only game we play together. Don't be a Brett Favre.

• Common sense expectations of toon maintenance/chores e.g. M+15 chest every week and hitting appropriate AP bench marks.
• Can play the class/role you want but sometimes it might be necessary to flex for the greater success of the
• The guild will provide flasks, food, potions, runes, gems, and enchants for Mythic raids.

• Near 100% Attendance is expected during Progression. Can be a little flexible with individuals who need a little slush time with their schedule if it's temporary.
• Flexible attendance during farm.
• Always post in our #raidattendance Discord chat if you will be missing a Farm or Prog

Raid Environment
Due to our limited raiding hours and desire to remain competitive there will be a couple things we need to be more disciplined about. All planning for encounter strategies/comp discussions should happen OUTSIDE of raid times. Our raid time is extremely valuable so hours outside of raid time will be for formulating the plan and hours meant for raid time will be for the execution of that plan. Theory crafting and spamming suggestions between pulls on a progression boss is not the time or place for it under our new model. Sometimes during the raid, you might have a good idea off the top of your head that requires a small adjustment or it's mind blowing in some way, in which case feel free to speak up if it's not going to derail the train too much but let's use common sense here and save suggestions and ideas largely for Discord outside of raid time. Voice comm discipline down in the etiquette section. Managing performance expectations are important and we care less about the actual rank at the end of the tier and more that the Guild has a realistic carrot in front of our face to chase for. We want to be proud of our performance and learning pace while avoiding any regression. We will always prioritize fun and sanity over rankings.

Required Addons
• BigWigs Boss Mods
• WeakAuras2
• Exrt
• Details or Skada
• RC Loot Council

• Show up to raid on time and prepared.
• Don't be toxic or call people out. The leadership will be responsible for player management.
• If you have a problem or want to suggest a process improvement -- talk to the leadership!
• Streaming our raids is fine! Just mute our raid mumble so that your viewers can only hear yourself, sorry the rest of us didn't sign up to be put on display.
• Voice Comm - Due to our limited raiding hours it will be necessary to have 2 modes of operation -- FFA Mode: Classic Standard Midwinter bullshittery - this is the mode we will operate in for the large majority of our raid time, even during progression during easy phases or if it's not too derailing. Serious Mode: Everyone here has experience being a Cook in the Kitchen. We already have plenty of Cooks. If you're not in leadership or delegated to call something out then let the leadership run the raid and just listen so we don't lose focus and can make the best use of our limited progression time. We will swap to this mode when the raid is getting too derailed during progression. This is something that happens organically, so don't take it too literally.
• We have a zero tolerance policy against rude assholes. If you are wearing the guild tag then you are always representing the guild. Be that in-game, on other discords, or forums. Shit posting or bad mouthing other organizations/guilds or players publicly will result in a slap on the wrist and if behavior doesn't change it will be followed by a swift boot on the wrist. Constructive criticism/feedback on official forums against Blizzard is fine but it's a very fine line between that and abusive posting so just be mindful that you are always representing 20+ other people. We've always been protective of our reputation in Midwinter and have been rewarded by attracting non-jackasses who wish to play here and cool opportunities like getting to play on the main stage at Blizzcon twice now. If you really can't control yourself there's nothing preventing you from making a secret dickhead shit post alt that's not tagged with the guild to diarrhea on.

Trials/FnF Notes

• Run M+ with people outside of raid time. These are an amazing opportunity to get yourself known in the guild and should be taken seriously. High M+ runs are a very effective way to evaluate player skill and we will utilize them to familiarize ourselves with newer members on the team.
• Talk to people/set up runs/get involved.
• Do your job in raids/Volunteer for special roles that may pop up during encounters. Click summoning portals.
(applies to everyone else too obv ;))
• Ask for feedback on your trial every few weeks.

• Be a ghost (Unless really good at raiding then we don't give a shit)
• Be too chatty/forceful in your personality. Most of us have known each other in between a range of 5-10 years, even meeting up several times, and we're a little tribal at this point (not a bad thing and just a side product of being a tight-knit community). Definitely make sure to ease yourself into the community, especially during large group activities like raids. Smaller group things like M+ or whatever are the places to let your personality shine 8-)
